https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Leibowitz – I like to think of myself as a bit of a jewish thief too, so this guy’s story really resonated with me. His wiki is kind of a stub so I really don’t know a whole lot about his life, but according to Haaretz, he became a folk hero “portrayed as part Robin Hood, part sex symbol,” so again, this guy’s story really resonated with me.

Lyrics:

Italian Moto Guzzi

Ofnobank. Guy’s a thief

Desert motorcycle

Tela-Robin Hood-Aviv

Ofnobank ofnobank ofnobank shalom, shalom.

Wind:

Harmonica

Peruvian Pan Flute

Mellotron (digital)

Police siren

Looking for feedback on

Please anything. I had some trouble with compressors and limiters for this, and i feel like the mix is all over the place. Also was doing my late night night listening sessions on a sort of busted pair of airpods (sort of learned they were busted throughout this week) while walkin the dog, so I feel like that affected my ear for this.

Yep yep, that choir sample is so cool. I would make that bass a little thicker, the bass licks might be my favorite part, and could stand to take up more space. Fleshing out a unique chord progression like this is no easy task and I think you made good choices arrangement-wise. I’ve never quite heard a song like it, well done!

Thanks! Yeah, it’s a weird one, structure- and form-wise. The bass was digital on my midi controller, so I always really struggle to get it right. I recently fixed up my p-bass, so it’ll be analog bass from here on out for most songs I think.

wild-vinyl-overexposedy-rollercoaster ride-Benefit of Mr. Kite-road trip. so many cool arrangement moves unique elements popping out, and @@ryan.mp3 got it right with that choiry background sample, so good. For me I think rounding off some of the more tangy (tangy is always the word I use for this) peaks of the acoustic guitar, like around :49 for instance, would be nice. “the guy’s a thief” instant classic.

Yes, I think this is similar to previous critiques you’ve given my acoustic guitar mixes. Tanginess/chirpiness/buzziness etc, not to mention some issues with Boom.

bright bright lovely beuaitufl guitars. mix is not all over the place. but anytime you feel like the mix is too crazy- go back to the beginning. to the basics. Usually too many cooks in one frequency range. For this i feel like you are well endowed in the high mids. and mid mids. Check out ‘Tonal Balance Control’ by Izotope. It’s a cheat for when you’re not in a space to properly mix. Tells you where the holes are.

Checking that out. Now.

Yo, yesssss to that choir sample in the background! Soo good! This sounds like it would’ve been tricky to mix, I don’t envy you. But I think it turned out great! I wish the bass register were filled out the whole time the way it is in the first ~45 secs. There are a few sections later in the track that could use some bottom end. But man, I think for a wonky and tricky track, this sounds awesome. My favorite submission of yours yet. Very memorable.

Great feedback. Yeah. Filling the low end was really hard for some reason on this track. I need to just get a bass. I used a midi controller and Logic sounds for bass, and there are very few workable options if I wanted a bass guitar that sounds more like a bass than a synth (but not too cute and fretty sounding). None of them were sounding good to me. I think it has something to do with how I recorded acoustic percussion for this (and no digital beats). Normally I can get digital bass to sit nicely over digi beats, but this was a challenge. Yeah this was fun.
