Hard To Get Away (Just Make The Call)

Mostly Melody

I think this caps off a nice little NCBC Spring Session thematic trilogy of songs for me. Let me know if you agree.

This was fun then frustrating (then I tore it up and re-recorded the song from scratch) then fun again. The true spirit of the NCBC mission in this assignment I think.

Will find some time to rerecord some pitchinesses soon.

Info and lyrics added later. Enjoy!

No effects were used in the making of this song. But the "mastering" ended up making it more effecty than i wanted. Can you hear the words? Do you understand what it's about and how it relates to my other songs? What does it mean to you? How can i "master" it better?

Oooh love your vocal quality on this one. Great little summer driving bop 🙂 similarly to @@nickI frequently don’t pick up lyrics until many listens in, but I do pay attention to how the words sound. I dig the little synthy melody too

I mean, hard to get away? We know you love your solo vacations. I’m also not an immediate (or ever) lyric recognizer. Still don’t know the words to many of my favorite songs. But there’s a lot of words and phrases for me to grab in to. Like 6 on a Saturday. 11 late. I really do like this one. This assignment was kind of made for you. I know singing and recording your vocals came a little later in the game for you, so it’s easy to just coat them with effects, which is something I still grapple with. But point is, you’ve developed a really great singing tone that is best served straight—more valuable than any silly-adjacent effects. And the full band sound on this is pretrt strong. Less is more may be a takeaway from this one. Nice work!

Your tunes never fail to get me foot, tapping and grooving along with them. I love the bouncy, upbeat vibe, and the tune feels familiar after one listen. I love it. I don’t believe the mastering made it affect heavy. A great combination in the mix. I can’t say that I picked out the lyrics, but that’s typical for me. I hear the melody and get the vibe and it feels good. Love the acoustic drums in the intro, feels like an intimate coffee shop vibe. And your harmonist is spot on as usual. 🙂

Cute lil tune! I caught some of the words, but I wasn’t focusing too hard on them… if the meaning of it was, “life is hard but that’s okay,” then I think you’re right on the money with the vibes. The only mastering/mixing note I have is that your bass got really hot in the mix in some of the higher notes, so leveling those out will be nice.
