This is an achingly beautiful vocal performance. I love “I miss you like hunger/I miss you like the thirst.” I think that’s a fearless lyric. And the sweetness of the maj7 chord is sweeter for the minor chords surrounding it. I’m hesitant to mention another artist again, since I did that on your palindrome piece and I’m always wary of making comparisons, but this is more of a free association: have you heard the Joanna Newsom’s song by the same title? This song is actually a little more up my alley than that particular one of hers, but I thought that if you hadn’t, the coincidence might be enjoyable.

I. love. this. You have such awesome vibrato. It’s big and wide and unapologetic but totally in control, and it gives this song an unusual classical vibe. I could imagine this song as part of an opera. The longing is so visceral and dramatic. Big Jeff Buckley energy!

thank you so much!!! i grew up singing with classical training/singing opera so thats definitely built into my musicianship whether i want it to be there or not. i used to try and fight it because i didnt think it was “cool” but im trying in general to take all the pressure off of trying to be anything. its cool to hear that you like those elements, i am humbled and grateful my dude

The phrasing in this is amazing. The “iiiIiIIiIIiiIiIiIIiiiiIiiIIiii think of you often” is haunting.
Great tones all over this piece, so many melodies, widespread eeriness.

Aubrey this is freaking beautiful. And I love the recording, too. Equal parts intimate and eerie. Rad chord choice, too. Would love to see the lyrics if you wanted to post them on the ‘about’ section of the track at some point!

wow thank you so much this means so much to me! i am fairly inexperienced when it comes to logic and software so this is going to be a good challenge for me to get better, everyones stuff for this assignment (yours included) is so rad
