Busy

Home Body
Chord: F# how bout that
Household objects: Refrigerator door and the screeching heater which was probably gonna be in the recording anyway.
Missed place: My living room when it’s filled with delinquents
Sample is from the outro of Love Me
Lyrics:
it’s a crowded house now
neighbors text the thread to calm down
they say too late for blaring
but Eric just got married
pulling out the pull-out couch now
someone needs a place to crash out
i don’t mind a little bit of zoom
but i sure like a busy living room
Looking for feedback on
Curious about people's thoughts on including something as current as the product "Zoom." Felt kind of strange to use it, but couldn't deny the rhyme.

Nico, how do you record acoustic geet? Like, what mic and what placement?
nick April 26, 2020 8:57pm
I usually just record direct with the aura setting on my acoustic. Sometimes I throw a mic up, but rarely, and with reckless abandon.

This song exudes sweet nostalgia effortlessly (just like Ryan’s submission to this assignment). There’s some nice ~early~ Father John Misty energy to it. Love it.

realizing, just now, how much some early FJM totally does the Elvis thing. luscious, over the top vocals, little flourishes here and there. some of their beltiest belts seem to get their resonance from around the same neighborhood in the throat.

YO. the heater. it sounds A LOT like that synth noise at the end of Karma Police
nick April 26, 2020 8:58pm
wow yes, very true.

So vibey. Love this, and the heater gives such a nice underlying texture

always admired how your lyrics say the most with the least.

Is the heater that whistling thing in the back? I love it. Sounds like a synth tweaking out. Who needs Moog when you’ve got Boston’s 1970s heating systems. Also, you’ve become a master of the lazy vocal—sits way back in the pocket so nice. Tryina #learnfromyou

it’s funny with the heater because I do a lot of voice-over recording for work, and the heater is my arch nemesis. finally got a voice memo of it, dropped it into the track, and was surprised at how un-annoying and eventually lovely it became as a texture.

that Elvis sample is SO warm. This was a smashing success.

Pope, this is dope. I’m especially digging the vocal components to this dish. Love that melody.
daeclan April 21, 2020 9:15pm
i get panda bear vibes from the production and bends era radiohead in the vocals, both in the best way possible. this was mad delightful, man. is that a sample or you singing in the loop?
