Brain Dig

Walking softly, barefoot on warm pavement

Michael waits ahead while sunlight fades

I watch sea birds sail through salt spray

While pavement turns to sand beneath my feet

Walking back now, the moon will light our way

I’ll remember how you came to me

This song had a difficult birth. Does it work as a standalone piece?

This is beautifulllll. The synths and strings are so warm and subtle, and the little sonic moments at the beginning/end, too 👍 Agree with @@Ben – I love getting to hear so much piano-centric music coming from you on here.

love the brevity of these piece. feels like one slow motion wave, salt spray and all. I think I need a touch more clarity in the vocal at the end, maybe just through the mix, but besides that, I love this one as is. Nice work.

I agree: This is very slow motion and a really, really great listen. Really feels musically like the subject matter. Musical onomatopoeia? And that’s a good point, Nick, about the vocal clarity. Sometimes the vocals seems to dip below the line and get a little swallowed.

Are those subtle vocal doubles I hear at certain times? Very low in the mix? I love them. Like at 0:12.

All your Neon Chef songs have been VERY cinematic so far. Is that what happens when you produce songs that are primarily Piano+Vox? I’m GOOD with that.

I love listening to your stuff on NCBC because, as a fan of your music for over a decade now, I feel like I’m noticing big differences in the flow and space and feel of your compositions/performances based on the instrumentation – You’re very different piano+vox VS guitar+vox VS full rock band set up.

Man, when your voice swells up at 0:30. Yes. This gives me strong Jon Brion and Sufjan vibes and I’m all about it. This feels like warm, warm sunlight. I want more!
